We hear it all the time, from every corner of the political sphere: There’s no other country on the planet quite like the United States of America. Such pronouncements are typically of the rah-rah variety, and it’s indisputably true that this country is exceptional in a large number of ways.

I love all these graphs except the one on calories.
Because without context it seems to be implying that Americans are fat classless slobs with no self-control.
When actually it’s a bunch of complicated issues including that we’re the victims of a massive capitalist experiment to alter our food in ways that chemically suppress satiety and increase appetite, the fact that NUTRITION can be hard to find in the American diet so people are eating empty calories trying to meet their nutritional needs eventually, and hey some of us are being worked to death and use calories instead of sleep.
But yes to the others, always reblog commentary on how the United States has diverged significantly from the rest of the developed world.
The commentary. ^^
